Dr. Abdul Khalek Bhuiyan, a visionary entrepreneur, started his career in medicine in early 60s. He established a bicycle industry in 1975 and left behind an enduring heritage. With the success of his heritage, M&U began its journey from 2004. Over the time, M&U Group becomes one of the largest business conglomerates in Bangladesh with diversified business portfolios. The Group is mainly engaged in manufacturing. It has different manufacturing units such as bi-cycles, automated corrugated carton, poly bag and plastic button, ready-made garment and Car Assembly . In the automobile sector, M&U Group is the Sole Distributor of renowned KIA Motors from Korea, the prestigious German Brand BMW, US made Ford Motors in Bangladesh. It has distribution business of all types of stationery, confectionery and shaving kits across the country. M&U Cycles Ltd is a bicycle manufacturer and exporter of distinction, being one of the largest facilities of its kind in Bangladesh. Starting from 2005, it’s been 100% export-oriented company with over two decades of legacy in bicycle industry, transcending through utmost customer contentment. At present, M&U Cycle has the capacity of 450,000 bicycles per year. M&U uses cutting-edge technology and HI-TECH machines with all modern features. All the frames and forks M&U produces are ISO standard. It has two painting lines with fully automatic electrostatic disc. In addition, M&U has in-house production facilities for alloy frame, fork, rims, handle bar operated by highly skilled professionals. M&U’s entire production is exported across the world: especially to European countries like Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Spain, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and USA. The Group started its first carton production in 2004. To meet the growing demand of packaging, poly bag and OPP gum tapes, M&U packaging expanded its capacity from 2009 and provides world class packaging solutions to its customers in a sustainable way. The factories are –M&U Packaging Ltd, Reflex Packaging Ltd. and M&U Trims Ltd. M&U has fully automated carton manufacturing plants equipped with automatic corrugated board making machines. It has high speed fully automatic world-famous German made BHS corrugation machine and 3 fully automatic Taiwan origin board making machine. It has 3 folder gluers with flexo printer and dye cutters. It has 5 flexo printing machines. At present, it has a capacity of 400,000 pieces of high-quality corrugated cartons per day. It is an FSC certified Factory & delivers cartons to customers made by FSC certified paper. M&U produces different types of poly bags such as bottom sealing bag, side sealing bag, Ziplock bags and hanger poly bags. Its factory is equipped with state-of-the-art Taiwan origin machineries such as Extruder, side & bottom sealing machine, 8 color flexo printing machine, etc. Using Biodegradable materials, PP, LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, and stretch film, It can produce up to 2.2 Million pcs/day including Anti-microbial poly bags and Biodegradable poly bags. M&U uses wastage poly from its own factories and buy from outside to produce recycled granules in its recycling plant. It can produce recycle poly bags from zeo to 100% recycled material. All recycled material used in the factory are GRS certified and all products produced are GRS certified as well. M&U Trims manufactures plastic buttons made of polyester resin in a variety of art, design, and styles. All these buttons are free from harmful substances. All products are OEKO-TEX STANDARD certified. M&U Group has a garment manufacturing plant named Meghna Denims Limited. It is a USGBC LEED Gold certified factory located at Sreepur, Gazipur. At Meghna Denims quality is of paramount importance. For its excellent performance, Meghna has achieved numerous prestigious awards and certificates. It presently has 40 sewing lines, equipped with contemporary machinery, where skilled professionals manufacture woven tops and bottoms. Meghna Denims also has a state-of-the-art sustainable washing facility which saves approx. 60% of water consumption in its factory. It has a production capacity of 1,200,000 pieces denims a month. . Renowned buyers express thorough confidence in Meghna Denims, collaborating with it regularly. Its clientele spreads over EU, UK USA, Australia and New Zealand. Meghna Car Manufacturing Ltd. engages in the manufacturing of automobiles in collaboration with Kia Corporation, South Korea from 2023. The company has set up a state-of-the-art car manufacturing facility in Gazipur and produces the most popular sedan and SUV from its recent models. The factory has a capacity of producing 5000 cars per year. All factories under M&U group are fully compliant factory. It follows all local and international social compliance rules and regulations. It is a BSCI certified company. All the employees here are provided with free healthcare facilities. M&U Group prioritizes its workers with optimum attention. Ambulance service is also available for the workers.Regular training is organized to keep the workforce prepared for health and safety. Workers’ rights and responsibilities are established through the Workers’ Participation Committee at the factories. M&U Group is a conglomerate of caring nature and earth. It stresses utmost importance on saving energy through using renewable one. It uses solar panels for reducing pressure on fuel energy. It produces up to 50% of its total factory energy requirement from solar power generation As a result, there is less carbon emission. The boiler is re-engineered to reduce electricity consumption. Overall, 25% gas consumption has been reduced so far. M&U has recycling plants for reusing the polythene waste. They are also reusing the paper waste of corrugated cartons. The waste materials of cycle manufacturing are sent to recycling plant too and reused instead of dumping in the nature. 100% of waste generated in all factories are being recycling internally or through local recyclers. The Effluent Treatment Plant cleanses all the effluents and treated water is delivered to nature. More than 30% of treated water are consumed internally in all factories. M&U is managing water responsibly and committed to improving water quality, efficiency, and scarcity. It has a rain-water harvesting reservoir and afterwards the water is used in gardening, car-wash and others. The factory premises are covered with native plants all around. These sustainable and green activities reduce carbon footprints and support a green world.
